In 2024, embedded world will take place from 9 to 11 April. The conference programme is now online and more packed than ever before.

»Connecting the embedded community« is the motto of the embedded world Conference 2024. This is a deliberate counterpoint to a world that is increasingly characterised by protectionism and separation. After all, the world's technical, social and climate challenges can only be solved through joint action, fair competition and not confrontation.

»Connecting« has yet another dimension: the Steering Board of the conference has established new »connections« with partners from the embedded community who will enrich the content of the conference with their contributions. This year's conference programme includes sessions with presentations from the industry organisations Bluetooth SIG, edge+vision alliance, GCF, mipi alliance, OSADL, PICMG and MISRA. Steering Board Chair Prof Axel Sikora therefore likes to describe the embedded world Conference as a »community of communities«.

Keynotes on AI and sustainability

Two international keynotes will focus on artificial intelligence and sustainability. Dr Salil Raje, Head of the Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group at AMD, will speak on the first day of the conference about »Improving AI Efficiency from Edge to Cloud with Heterogeneous Computing«. His presentation will also focus on sustainability and how artificial intelligence can be operated using as little energy as possible.

Fiona Treacy, keynote speaker on the second day, will be speaking on the topic of »How the Intelligent Edge May Help Enable the Sustainable Factory of the Future«. Fiona Treacy heads the Industrial Automation Business Unit at Analog Devices and one of the points she will make is that using more energy at one point can lead to a more favourable energy balance in the overall system of a production plant.

More programme than ever before

Selecting the presentations from the submissions and putting together the programme was no easy task this year: the call for papers resulted in a record number of submissions. This is also reflected in the conference programme: with two keynotes, 243 presentations in 81 sessions and 17 half-day and full-day classes, the Nuremberg Convention Center at the east entrance to the exhibition centre is fully booked. More is not possible. This is because the electronic displays Conference is taking place at the same time.
